Snow and Bad Weather Procedures

Information for Parents during winter weather conditions (Updated November 2015)

As we move into the winter months we would like to provide you with some information about our Severe Weather Procedures. In the event of heavy snow we will always do our very best to keep the school open.

Having said this, our primary consideration must always be for the safety of children, staff and visitors and whether or not the Emergency Services can reach the school if we need them. The decision to close the school is taken in consultation with the Chair of the Governing Body and the Local Education Authority.

These decisions are not taken lightly and are often made following a recommendation from the Local Authority or as a result of warnings from the police, transport authorities or Met Office. In the event of snow closure, we will always endeavour to make a decision by 7.30am.

During bad weather, please always check the school website BEFORE you make your journey to school. If we do need to close the school you can find information as follows:

1. We will endeavour to send a text message via School Comms to all parents/carers who are number 1 contacts and have provided us with an up to date mobile number.
2. Pinner Park Junior School website: www.pinnerparkjuniorschool.co.uk — see Stop Press on the Home Page.
3. Go to http://map.lgfl.org.uk/opencheck and follow instructions on screen
4. Via Harrow Council's web pages www.harrow.gov.uk/
5. You can telephone 0208 863 1239 from 7.30am; but please note that the line becomes congested very quickly and we asked that you look at the school website if you are not receiving the texts

Thank you.
