Pinner Park Junior School: Before and After School Clubs
All home Learning tasks are given each week.

Year 3
Literacy:
  • Reading — Children should read and fill in their reading log at minimum of 3 times per week, for 15 minutes each time. Their reading log should be signed by a parent/guardian. Children read their school reading book until they are a free reader when they can also choose a book of their own.
  • Spelling — Children will be given 20 spellings to learn for a test.
  • Writing — Children will be given a writing task which should take up to 30 minutes to complete.
Maths:
  • Children will be given a maths task which should take up to 30 minutes to complete.
Other:
  • One piece of work topic related.

Year 4
Literacy:
  • Reading — Read 4 times per week for a minimum of 10 minutes each time
  • Spellings — Ten words to learn with a minimum of 5 'super sentences' written that include a spelling.
  • Writing — One piece per week linked to work in class.
Maths:
  • Two tasks completed on 'Mathletics', which are set each week and linked to the work in class
Other:
  • One piece of work, set half termly, linked to a foundation subject.

Year 5
Literacy:
  • Reading — Read 5 times per week 15 minutes each time.
  • Spellings — ten words to learn plus write meanings and a sentence for each.
  • Writing — One task set each week.
Maths:
  • Mathletics activities are set each week to be competed, linked to work in class.
Other:
  • Ongoing topic based project each term.
  • Occasional extra work set based upon topics

Year 6
Literacy:
  • Reading — Children must read for at least 20 minutes every day. This can be by themselves or to someone else. Parents /Carers can listen to children read or read to them. Discussing the book can be a pleasurable experience for you and the child. Children are allowed to borrow from school. Children are allowed to borrow books from school.
  • Spelling — Children are given 10 challenging spellings to learn each week. They are tested on the spelling and the definition. For homework they must use these spellings in sentences or paragraphs and are encouraged to use their spellings in class discussions and writing.
  • Literacy — One piece of written work is given every week. This should take between 30 to 60 minutes. Sometimes projects are given.
Maths:
  • Children are given one piece of homework each week which should take 30 to 60 minutes, but this may vary. Sometimes they may be given projects to complete.
Other:
  • Children may be given projects to complete for humanities subjects which enrich their learning and enthusiasm.
